We, the members of the editorial committee of “V0ICE OF G.O.D.S.”, are delighted to bring out the fourth issue of the “VOICE OF G.O.D.S.”. It is our endeavour to champion the cause of the disabled towards Self Sustenance. HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PERIOD : JAN –MAR 2005. Sterling achievement of the G.O.D.S. :-The value adding Activities, saw a three fold increase over the last 2 years. this has been possible, thanks to the GOLDEN EFFORTS OF G.O.D.S.’ and their sheer perseverance to get opportunities for exhibition and sale of Products. Many shops have also shown interest in TAKING UP AGENCY FOR SELLING our Products. This WELCOME trend can help G.O.D.S. to attain self sustenance much earlier than we anticipate. Important EVENTS OVER THE LAST THREE MONTHS JANUARY TO MARCH 2005. Founders’ Day celebrations made memorable by GODS’ Group dance , Kalasadan ‘s Dasavathara dance ballet and Klub Nostalgia ‘s presentation of evergreen melodies in Indian film music. Marathon run by Ramesh Mangaleswaran of Mckensie for MBA Foundation. Vist to our centre by Mrs Uma Prabhu, wife of Shri Suresh Prabhu, Member of Parliament. Visit by Mr Niranjan Hiranandani, Chairman of Hiranandani Group of Companies. Admission of following into GODS’ family: Udhay, Amit, Arun , Nilesh. Participation in seminar in Bangalore organisedb by National Trust New staff joining MBA family:Aruna, Sakshi, Santosh, Ram and Gautam. Starting of MBA -Parents Association in Chembur. Our new venue in Chembur, in Jeevan Naiya Co-op. Hsg. Soc., has started functioning from 1.2.05 . It is more spacious, has a disabled friendly access, with room for more G.O.D. members. to join. Drishtikone. Donations in cash and kind (computer, table, fans, digital camera, music system, etc.) were received from many of our valued patrons, Parents and Volunteers. Major order for meals for 15 days from a Marriage Party in Hiranandani Gardens. We welcome more such orders for mini Parties for Birthdays, Club meetings, Kitty etc. Cheers and Thanks from G.O.D.S.'to the following: Mr.Niranjan Hiranandani, Chairman of Hiranandani Group of Companies, for his special positive initiatives for the betterment of Opportunities and welfare of Disabled Persons. Hiranandani Hospital for their special attention to Persons with Disabilities and special attention to G.O.D.S. of MBA Foundation. Our Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, for announcing the effective implementation of the 3% reservation in govt. Jobs (especially in A & B categories) for Persons with Disabilities. NDTV for bringing up the issues relating to the disabled in an objective, analytical and positive manner in two of its major Programmes, viz., ‘THE BIG FIGHT’ and ‘WE THE PEOPLE’ Ranjan, the upcoming pop singer, who in spite of his Disabilities, strives to perfect his talents in music and is giving public performances. Dr. Venugopal of AIMS, for his research in Cell Replacement, giving hopes to several Persons with muscular dystrophy and other problems Mrs Rashmi Mishra, Chairperson of Vidya, an NGO working for Education of the Underprivileged for offering Computer Education to our G.O.D.S. Sri Ramesh Mangaleswaran for running 7 kms. Marathon Dream Run for raising funds for the G.O.D.S. Mr.N.R. Venkatachalam and Mr Prem Kumar of ‘Klub Nostalgia’ for Organizing a Music Program for our Founders Day Celebrations. SPOTLIGHT ON Important TOPICS ON Disability Integration & Inclusion : The world over, the policies are Changing to "Inclusion of Disabled Children in regular Schools, with special attention being provided by Caretakers and Special Educators. In keeping with this policy, we at MBA Foundation have inclusion as our main guiding principle for our G.O.D.S. by having Community Based centres, where they can easily interact with the society and sensitise them too. Hear the voice of some G.O.D.S. members : NARAYANAN: Hi! I belong to Tamilnadu. Due to my being afflicted by polio, I did not have any formal Education in a school. I went into deep depression due to lack of occupation and socialization and am being treated for it. Coming to GODS HEAVENS, meeting other members and the regular visitors from the neighborhood, I feel very pleasant. I am busy with learning computer operation and office related work and hope to be doing worthwhile Jobs very soon. MANISHA BHURKE:HAPPY NEW YEAR !! I am 35 years old and physically challenged. I am a life Care member with MBA Foundation since December 2003. For me, MBA is not just a NGO, but a Home. Here we are allowed to dream and have ambitions to grow which the office bearers try and bring to reality ! My message to other disabled people like me is : “Don’t stay laid back and think you have no platform for yourself in this community. Put a step forward and find a place like MBA to get a chance to live with “Self Esteem & Dignity”. YAYATI SRIVASTAVA :Papa and mom, please get me ready in time or else I’ll be late for “Gods Heavens”. The place fills my day with joy and laughter. RHHIT GAMBHIR : I am big, I want to walk and work in office AKSHIT GAMBHIR: We want to stay here with our Friends. SHARDA JETIKAR: My wish is that many more such GODS HOMES should open in different parts of India to give better opportunity to many more people like us, who can fulfill their ambition of being independent, like me PRASAD : We make many items of daily use here. Buy liquid soap and phenoyl, which I make! UMA MAHESHWARI : I am happy here. I sit, learn and play with my Friends here. I don’t want to go home !
